General goal of the project "Clean Energy for Vukovar" is to promote and achieve lower carbon emissions and increase supply security. This goal will be realized through the implementation of the project, including the development of project-technical documentation, which is a prerequisite for achieving the general goal.

General Goal: Promote energy with lower carbon emissions and increased supply security.

Specific Goal: Develop project-technical documentation as a prerequisite for enabling the use of geothermal energy in the city of Vukovar. This will result in the production of energy with lower carbon emissions and increased supply security.

Project Proposal Results:

Outcome 2: Increased production of energy from renewable sources

Immediate Result 2.1: Installed capacities for the use of energy from renewable sources.

Immediate Result 2.2: Strengthened capacities for managing and promoting energy from renewable sources.

Bilateral Immediate Result 1: Increased cooperation between entities in the beneficiary state and donor states within EP 15.

The "Clean Energy for Vukovar" project is funded by Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway through the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA) 2014–2021, with national co-financing from the Republic of Croatia within the "Energy and Climate Change" program.

"The support of the EEA Financial Mechanism represents a contribution from Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway towards a green, competitive, and inclusive Europe. The EEA Financial Mechanism has two main objectives:

  1. Reducing economic and social disparities in Europe.
  2. Strengthening bilateral relations between donor countries and the 15 EU countries in Central and Southern Europe and the Baltic region.

The programming period 2014–2021 represents the most generous funding program. A total of 2.8 billion euros is available for 15 beneficiary countries (1.5 billion euros from the EEA Financial Mechanism and 1.3 billion euros from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism)."

The project's total value is €259,470.62, of which non-refundable amount of funds is €217,330.02 (83.76%).

The project is led by the City of Vukovar, Croatia, with a project partner, EFLA Consulting Engineers from Iceland.

The project implementation period is from April 13, 2022, to April 12, 2024.
